HCMC to promote trade in Torino

Vietnam Embassy in Italy together with HCMC authorities and Torino city authorities hold a seminar “Trade and investment promotion in HCMC” at Torino Town Hall, Italy.
 
Speaking at the seminar, Chairman of the HCMC’s People Committee Le Hoang Quan said that there are currently 19 industrial parks, export processing zones which attract 5,330 foreign direct investment projects with the total capital of $US 36,3 billions (making up 1/3 national total foreign investment projects and 1/4 national registered capital) in HCMC.

HCMC has stable polictics-culture, developed infrastructure, easy transportation for goods, young labor forces with high skills.

Mr.Le Hoang Quan  pledged efforts to facilitate stable polictics – culture, protect investors’ right and effective operation of foreign businesses, particularly those from Italy in HCMC.
 
Mr. Le Hoang Quan also called on businesses from Torino and Italy more broadly step up their investments in HCMC’s prioritized areas such as: high-tech agriculture, supporting industry, infrastructure investment, urban development, finance, banking, waste treatment, education and healthcare.
 
At the seminar, Vietnam Ambassador to Italy Cao Chinh Thien said that Italy is the 18th Vietnam export market and 15th Vietnam import market.

Italy is also the  3rd Vietnam partner within EU union  and ranks 28th among 101 investment nations in Vietnam, with 66 projects and registered capitals up to $US 391 millions. The investments covers sections that big Italy company is operating such as: Italy – ENI Oil Group, Piaggio, Ariston, Gattonini, Bonfigliotti, Datalogics,....  

The ambassador announced that the 2nd Vietnam-Italy Joint Committee will be held in Italy in Octorber and Italy will be Vietnam’s honoured partner to present in the 2nd Vietnam Food Expo trade in HCMC in 11/2016. 

Mr.Enzo Lavolta, Torino’s Vice Mayor, on his side also said that the cooperation agreement between the two cities will lay the foundation for pragmatic collaboration between the 2 sides.

Mr.Lavolta also voiced his hope that the seminar could not only open up more opportunities for businesses from the two cities, but also enhance cooperation between 2 cities’ municipal authorities in culture, arts and administrations.

Mrs. Antonella Maria, Director of International trade policy agency – Italy Economy and Development Ministry affirmed that the Ministry looked Vietnam as a strategic nations with stable polictics, active economic development with the annual rate at 6-7%, and transparent administration reform and investment policies.  

Mrs. Maria also said that the actions of signing strategic partners, 2015 – 2016 action plan, establising Economic Cooperation Joint Committee,... directed the 2 sides collaboration, created talk mechanisms for 2 sides to overcome obstables, and also brought more advantages for economic development ties.

She advised Italy businesses including Torino’s ones to have long-term strategic investment in Vietnam and focus on areas such as: food processing, packaging, machinery, green power, infrastructure,...

Mrs. Maria also announced that the Torino mayor will lead a delegation of businesses from Torino  and the Piemonte region to visit and seek investment opportunities in HCMC.
