48th AMM-sidelined bilateral meeting between Deputy Prime-minister Pham Binh Minh and Senior EU Representative

Deputy Prime-minister Pham Binh Minh had bilateral meetings with EU Senior Representative responsible for Security and Foreign Affair Policy Federica Morherini and Australia Minister of Foreign Affair Julie Bishop in the meeting sidelided 48th AMM events in Malaysia.


In the meeting with EU Senior Representative responsible for Security and Foreign Affair Policy Federica Morherini, the two sides have shown their eagerness for the positive development after 25-years Vietnam-EU diplomacy establishing and the completion of VN-EU free trade agreement. 
 
The 2 sides also agree to strenthen the VN-EU comprehensive cooperation both in bilateral relations and in regional and internationl forums in order to make the tie more effectively and efficiently that meets the need of VN and EU for the sack of regional and world peace, stability and development.

The Deputy Prime-minister Pham Binh Minh urged EU to complete VN-EU comprehensive and collaborative partners Framework Agreement to create a corridor for legal framework for the 2-sides relation to strongly develop.


The EU Senior Representative responsible for Security and Foreign Affair Policy Federica Morherini higly aprreciated the importance of VN in ASEAN. She thanked VN – in the role of ASEAN-EU coordinator for supporting EU to deepen relation with ASEAN. The EU Senior Representative responsible for Security and Foreign Affair Policy also express her appreciation to the invitation of Deputy Prime-minister Pham Binh Minh to VN and said she would be visiting toVN soon.


 
The 2 sides also share concerns over recent activities, especially the large-scale artificial islands consolidation breaking the current state, unstabilizing and threatening security, navigation safety, air safety and surrounding environment on the East Sea. They agree to call for relevant parties not to complicate matters, solve dispute peacefully through international law, including the UN Convention on the law of the SEA 1982, DOC Declaration and soon finishing DOC.

In the meeting with Australian Minister of Foregin Affairs Julie Bishop, Deputy Prime-minister Pham Binh Minh express his happiness for the deep and wide comprehensive and collaborative relation between the 2 nations. He suggests the 2 countries to deeper coordinate with each others for more solutions to promote the potential of 2-sides cooperation, sending more senior staffs exchanges. 

Australia Minister of Foregin Affairs affirms that she highly appreciate the friendship relations and cooperation with VN.She also agrees the 2 sides should enhance cooperation, exchange more senior and all-levels staffs.In addition VN-Australia need to bring into play all current bilateral cooperation mechanisms to develop the comprehensive and collaborative relation between the 2 countries and to meet the need of people from both sides.

The 2 sides also show concerns about large-scale islands cosolidation recently on the East Sea, which could erode belief of all relevant parties, threaten peace, stability,security and navigation safety on the East Sea. 

Mrs Bishop affirm that Australia strongly oppose to unilateral activitie on the East Sea,supporting resolving dispute by peaceful means through international law, including the UN Convention on the law of the SEA 1982, DOC Declaration and soon finishing DOC.
