48th ASEAN Foreign Ministers Meeting in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)

48th ASEAN Foreign Ministers Meeting (AMM 48) was held in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) on 04/08. The State Secretaries of the 10 ASEAN countries, ASEAN Secretariat and representatives of 29 countries attended. Mr. Pham Binh Minh, former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs attended the Assembly.
Journalists of Vietnam News Agency reported in Kuala Lumpur, Foreign Minister of Malaysia Anifah Aman said that the ASEAN Community completion in 2015 will bring many new opportunities for the development of the ASEAN and people worldwide. Continue to maintain peace, stability and development. ASEAN Community will lead ASEA away from the threats and dangers to pursue the dream of prosperity and freedom; Besides that, ASEAN will become increasingly powerful and open, and become a more free market, to ensure that everyone can get health services and health, particularly children and women, to create more learning opportunities for them and establish a sustainable environment development.

Regarding to the East Sea issue, he stressed that ASEAN should play an important role in resolving the South China Sea, based on the mode of peace and cooperation to resolve the dispute. He said that ASEAN has made a good start, but much remains to be done, so let's start from this session.
Malaysian Prime Minister Najib said that the 48th ASEAN Foreign Ministers Meeting is a milestone of Malaysia, assuming the rotating presidency of ASEAN. ASEAN Community shall be established by the end of the year, which is a major step towards the construction of the center for people of the community. The completion of the ASEAN Community is a good opportunity for ASEAN to develop and become a new type of regional development.
After the opening ceremony, plenary session continued. At the meeting, delegates will focus on review of the roadmap of the ASEAN Community, and strengthen the external relations, ASEAN's role and mutual interest and discuss the present development of the region and the world.
